- Can I use the free plan for commercial projects?
- No. The free plan (100 requests a month, no credit card) is for testing and personal projects. Commercial use starts with the Basic plan at $9.99 a month for 5,000 requests.
- Do I need a credit card for the free plan?
- No. Sign up, get your API key and start making requests. You only need a card if you upgrade to a paid plan.
- How are batch requests billed?
- A POST /v1/validate batch takes up to 100 numbers, and each number counts as one request: a batch of 100 different numbers uses 100 requests of your monthly quota. Identical entries in the same batch are validated and billed once. The same number written differently (for example +14158586273 and +1 415 858 6273) counts twice. The X-Cost response header shows what a request cost.
- Can I validate a list of phone numbers without writing code?
- Yes. In your dashboard, open Tools → Batch validation and upload a CSV, TXT or Excel (XLSX) file of up to 20 MB, or paste the numbers. We find the phone numbers in any column, show how many requests the batch uses before anything is charged, and email you when it is done. The results download as a CSV with your original columns plus the API's fields (valid, formats, country, carrier, line type). Each distinct number counts as one request, as with the API; numbers without a country code can use a default country you pick. Every plan includes it.
- How much does numlookupapi cost?
- Free is $0 a month for 100 requests. Basic is $9.99 a month for 5,000 requests. Pro is $49.99 a month for 50,000 requests. Scale is $109.99 a month for 250,000 requests. Above 250,000 requests a month, we set up a custom plan.
- Is there a 10,000-request plan?
- No. The plans are Free (100 requests a month), Basic (5,000), Pro (50,000), Scale (250,000) and Custom (more than 250,000). There are no plans named Small or Medium.
- Is there a rate limit?
- Paid plans have no rate limit. The free plan is limited to 10 requests per minute.
- Are carrier and line type lookups charged extra?
- No. Pricing is a flat monthly fee, not a per-lookup charge. A lookup returns validation, carrier, line type, location, time zones and formats in one response, and it counts as one request on every plan.
- How does the price compare with Twilio Lookup?
- Twilio Lookup charges $0.008 per Line Type Intelligence request (checked October 2026), so 50,000 line-type lookups cost about $400. The same volume costs $49.99 a month on numlookupapi Pro, with carrier, location and time zones included.
- Does a lookup return the owner's name or address?
- No. numlookupapi is a phone number validation API. It checks numbers against national numbering plans and returns carrier, line type, location, time zones and formats. It does not return the name or address of the person behind a number. A standard lookup does not query the mobile network: the carrier is the operator the number range was assigned to, so ported numbers are not reflected. For the live network status (reachable, ported, current network), add an HLR lookup on a paid plan.
- How reliable is the API?
- The API has had 99.99% uptime over the last 12 months. You can check the current status any time on the status page.
- Where does the data come from?
- From several phone data providers and international carriers.
- Is numlookupapi GDPR compliant?
- We process your data in line with the GDPR. numlookupapi is run by Everapi GmbH, an Austrian company, and the API runs on our own servers in Germany. Our Trust Center lists the security measures in place, where your data is kept and every sub-processor.
- What if I need more than 250,000 requests a month?
- Contact us and we'll set up a custom plan with the volume, SLA and terms you need.
- Can I cancel at any time?
- Yes. You can cancel any time from the dashboard.
