For AI coding agents
Onboard your agent to numlookupapi
Paste one line into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It reads our setup guide, gets you an API key, makes the first call and tells you what it set up.
Run curl -s https://numlookupapi.com/agents.md and follow it to set up numlookupapi for me in this project.
The links open your agent with the prompt filled in. Nothing runs until you press Enter.
Coding agents run on your computer. Open this page there to start yours in one click, or copy the prompt above.
How it works
Paste
Paste the line into your agent.
Approve
When it asks, sign up or approve its request: one click.
Build
Your agent makes the first call, and your dashboard turns green.
Pick your agent
The prompt works in every agent. Here are the one-click links where the tool has them, and the optional MCP server setup.
Start
Opens Claude Code with the prompt filled in. The link works once you have used Claude Code at least once; otherwise copy the prompt and paste it into claude.
On your computer, paste the prompt from the top of this page into claude.
MCP server optional
Lets Claude call numlookupapi directly. Run this in your project; the key stays in your local Claude Code settings, out of the repo.
claude mcp add --transport http numlookupapi https://api.numlookupapi.com/mcp --header "apikey: <your key>"For the whole team, commit a .mcp.json instead. It holds only a reference to NUMLOOKUPAPI_KEY, which Claude Code reads from each developer's environment.

}
}Start
Opens Cursor's agent with the prompt filled in. If your browser doesn't open Cursor, use the link through cursor.com.
MCP server optional
Installs the numlookupapi MCP server in one click. Cursor reads the key from NUMLOOKUPAPI_KEY in your environment.
Cursor reads the key from NUMLOOKUPAPI_KEY in your environment.
To set it up by hand, add it to .cursor/mcp.json in your project (~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project):
{
"mcpServers": {
"numlookupapi": {
"url": "https://api.numlookupapi.com/mcp",
"headers": { "apikey": "${env:NUMLOOKUPAPI_KEY}" }
}
}
}Start
Open Copilot Chat, switch to Agent mode and paste the prompt.
Run curl -s https://numlookupapi.com/agents.md and follow it to set up numlookupapi for me in this project.MCP server optional
Add it to .vscode/mcp.json. VS Code asks for the API key the first time and stores it securely, so the file is safe to commit.

Streamable HTTP at https://api.numlookupapi.com/mcp, with your key in the apikey header.
You stay in charge
Your key stays private
The guide tells your agent to keep the API key in .env: never in chat, logs, git or client-side code.
You decide what it costs
Your agent recommends a plan and asks you first. Nothing is charged until you confirm it yourself on app.numlookupapi.com.
